Kvitøya
Kvitøya or White Island is an island that is part of the Svalbard archipelago.
Not much different than a lot of other arctic islands, this island is known for the story of survival that took place there.
This is island 58 in what I suppose has become a series where I cover islands around the world. Stick around for more.
This is not some big work of academic importance. This video aims for accuracy but don't crucify me if I got something wrong. This video is to talk about the world because I like doing that.
If you are interested in the story of Andrée's Arctic balloon expedition. There exists (in Swedish) a novel and movie about the event titled: "Flight of the Eagle" which I really enjoyed.
The primary source for the video is "Med Örnen mot polen : Andrées polarexpedition år 1897" and the pictures of the expedition can be found on the website of the Grenna Museum.
