Surge XT - Best Free VST 2022?
Surge xt is an amazing free vst that’s been completely overhauled and rewritten in JUCE. This is a synth that I would happily pay for so it’s astonishing to find surge vst free and open source! These days, free vst plugins can be just as good as their rivals. Surge synth is up there with the top synthesizers on the market so it is absolutely in the running for best free vst too!
If you don’t like how it looks, you can download new skins for it, or design your own. This vst3 synthesizer is packed full of fabulous presets, including several 3rd party ones.
The foss philosophy is an admirable one that I’d love to see more of. If you use it, send some money towards the developers to encourage them to continue. If you can’t afford it, you don’t need to pay, and you can still use this awesome synth for free.

If you have a modern DAW like bitwig studio or tracktion waveform then you’ll be able to also have fun with external LFOs too, although this synth has so many LFOs of its own that it’s far from vital.
