Disney Store Closings: What does it say about economy?
Disney Store Closings! On March 3rd 2021, Disney announced on one of it’s websites that it plans to significantly reduce it’s brick and mortar stores in North America, and focus on e-commerce.
The change comes as a result of changing consumer trends, according to Disney.
As closures are starting to take effect, the last couple of days we’ve seen a lot of posts on social media both from fans and employees saying that they are sad or heartbroken.
According to USA Today, Target plans to open more than 100 new Disney shops inside its stores.
It is true that recently, consumers have been shifting towards online shopping, but from an economic perspective, this makes one wonder if recently there were deeper consequences for the economy than we currently realize, and if we’ll be seeing other big companies making similar moves.
