States Pass And Reject Free School Meals
States are on their own when it comes to funding meals at schools for kids whose families make more than 130% over the federal poverty level after pandemic era waivers ended that allowed for every child to be fed no matter their family income. Recently, there has been controversy over a pair of votes in the North Dakota Senate relating to the issue and other states like Minnesota and New Mexico are passing universal free school meals and more may come soon.
