Here are some of my Favorite Picture Books Using Traditional Techniques. I focused on books that used 2D college and 3D dimensional paper art in picture book illustrations. I'm fascinated by traditional materials and techniques and I spent a couple years in grad school researching how illustrated created their traditional works and what options they used to supply art for their final book.

The Polar Bear in the Snow by Mac Barnett and Illustrated by Shawn Harris
Hidden Treasure by Elly MacKay
The Snow Rabbit by Camille Garoche
Moon Pops by Baek Heena
Thankful by Elaine Vickers and Illustrated by Samantha Cotterill
Collection of Ezra Jack Keats
Little Houses: A Counting Book by Helen Musselwhite
Out of Wonder by Kwame Alexander and Illustrated by Euka Holmes
Freedom in Congo Square by Carole Weatherford and Illustrated by R. Gregory Christie
Wabi Sabi by Mark Reibstein and Illustrated by Ed Young
Unbound by Joyce Scott, Brie Spangler, and Melissa Sweet and Illustrated by Melissa Sweet
