Mysterious Abandoned Binocular Tunnels – What Were They Hiding?
Discover the fascinating history and geological wonders of the Corris Binoculars, The Binoculars were a failed experiment in the 1860's newly invented steam powered boring machines were trialled at 3 different locations. Cut in 1864, the twin tunnels which resemble binoculars reach around 30 metres into the rock. It worked but was too difficult to steer and control, so was later abandoned.
