VCS 2600 - E.T.'s new Patch / more movement possibilities
I like the E.T. Game for the Atari VCS 2600 very much. For me this is one of the best games. For better gameplay I decided to change the source code and implemented "Free Run" over holes and a "No Collision" option via switch.
With this new patch the game is perfectly playable, as no unwanted "falling into the hole" events occur anymore. The fact that you automatically fall into the hole is unfortunately the crucial design flaw. If the game had come out like this, it would certainly have been a great success, because nothing bothers you anymore. The game is still difficult enough, because the FBI and the scientist constantly appear and want to steal the collected things. Besides, the search is still exciting.
