Live Sound Log - December 1, 2023
Today I was with the band Blackstone at Pete's Saloon in Elmsford, NY. This was a LONG day. We've never been here before and the venue recommended we use the house PA. In the event the house PA was not adequate enough I could use mine however I had to get there SUPER early to make that decision. So, since I had no idea what I was walking into I got there around 1PM to check the place out and get familiar with the lighting and sound system.
Luckily the house mains and monitors sounded great. Even though I used the house PA I still needed to load in quite a bit of gear. (Thanks Greg for helping wit the load in!) I needed my mics, cables, wireless mic rack, light stands and 2 of the EZ PAR 64's as spotlights for Dave and Tom and we ran 2 additional floor wedge monitors.
The house mixer was a QSC Touchmix 16. The iPad app was working great till the restaurant filled up then it kept dropping connection forcing me to use the Touchmix interface which was just really slow and almost unusable.
Tonight was also the debut of the DJI Pocket 3 camera. (Which I somehow seemed to have misplaced 2x during the course of the night) So far it's working great. The only thing the older Pocket 2 has over the P3 this is that the gimbal and zoom speeds are slower on the P2, even at the slowest settings. I prefer the slower movements of the P2. I feel it looks more professional.
