The Training Hospitals
1. UCI Medical Center is rated among the nation's best hospitals by U.S. News & World Report and ranked No. 1 in Orange County, California. It is home to the county's only Level 1 trauma center, its only nationally designated comprehensive cancer center and a modern acute care hospital. The medical center also provides ambulatory, rehabilitation and mental health services, as well as the full spectrum of specialty care.
2. VA Long Beach Healthcare System (LBVA) is a 567-bed facility, located 12 miles west of UCIMC and 1/2 mile from the Pacific Ocean. The LBVA is a comprehensive facility, providing complete medical care for veterans. The facility includes a large Spinal Cord Injury Center (75 beds), Women's Veterans Health Clinic, Comprehensive Cancer Center, Same Day Surgery Center, and research facility.
3. Long Beach Memorial/Miller’s Children and Women’s Hospital (LBMMC/MCH) is a 420 bed facility located 20 miles from UC Irvine Medical Center. The education received at LBMMC is vital to the training of our residents due to the unique exposure to GU trauma (both surgical and non-surgical management), invasive therapy for priapism and other cases seen less often on other rotations. The resident will manage the service and reports directly to the site director.
4. CHOC Children's has been steadfastly committed to providing the highest quality medical care to children for more than 45 years. Affiliated with the University of California, Irvine, our regional pediatric healthcare network includes a state-of-the-art 279-bed main hospital facility in the City of Orange, and a hospital-within-a-hospital in Mission Viejo. CHOC also offers many primary and specialty care clinics, more than 100 additional programs and services, a pediatric residency program, and four centers of excellence - The CHOC Children's Heart, Neuroscience, Orthopaedic, and Hyundai Cancer Institutes.
