Self-regeneration of chirality is a type of process in which the original chirality in the starting material is relayed to another position in order to fictionalize the first position where the chirality of starting and product remains unchanged. Here protocol developed by Seebach to convert (S)-proline to (s)-α-methylproline where stereochemistry of the chiral center remains unchanged has been discussed.
