The Battle of Verdun took place from February 21st to December 18th of the year 1916. It marked the longest battle ever seen in the Great War lasting almost a year long. Taking place on the Western Front (France vs Germany), 303 days were spent trying to claim the key points of Fort Douaumont and Fort Vauz which held large significance for both the Germans and French. The French (Defenders) held it in high moral value while the Germans wanted it for historical value.
The French were able to defend their location and reclaim one of their lost forts through a single road that all ammo, weapons, and troops came through. This came to be known as the Sacred road.
