People whom have visited my YouTube Channel before, know I'm fond of the Yamaha YMF chips (like the YMF262 and YMF704) but the prices are soaring.
Did I bought an YMF704 @AliExpress for 16 euro prior to the Covid pandemie, now I can't get the same chip from the same supplier for no less than 80 euro!
So, no YMF chips for me...
But: There is SerdaShop.com where they sell Waveblaster cards which are very easy to adapt to EuroRack standards.
I got two of them, the Dreamblaster Synth S2 General Midi Daughterboard, which resides in the 4HP (=2 cm wide) module. This is the most simple of the two modules, it has a optocoupler midi in, a 12 volt to 5 volt linear voltage converter (7805) and that's it.
You can add a simple amplifier to crank up the output to euro standard.
The 6HP (3cm) wide module also houses a STM32 processor to read the incoming midi for display properties and with the rotary encoder you can set the instrument to 1 out of 16 channels (like an internal patch-bay).
It also shows a splash screen, which can be chosen for the S2 or the Ewave waveblaster by setting/removing a jumper.
