Putin's Takeover of NTV
In a news report from 16 April 2001 from the PBS Newshour with Jim Lehrer we see early hints of Russian President Vladimir Putin's non-democratic tendencies with his crackdown on one of the country's only independent television stations, NTV, which, of course, has never recovered the freedom of news coverage it had prior to this event.
