Illustrator's Library: "To the North", A. Ignatova, A. and V. Kendel
This masterpiece was illustrated by artist sisters Anna and Varvara Kendel, and written by Anna Ignatova. Incredibly, this captivating work was created by the sisters as their graduation project at the Stieglitz Academy in the Department of Easel and Book Graphics.
"To the North" earned the Kendel sisters the Golden Apple Award at the Bratislava Illustration Biennial (BIB) in Bratislava, Slovakia. Among the creative duo's other prestigious awards are the Grand Prix at the 2021 Golden Pinwheel International Competition for Young Illustrators (Shanghai, China) for the series "My Childhood in Siberia," the 14th International Book Illustration and Design Competition "Image of the Book" for their work on I. Turgenev's "A Hunter's Sketches," A. Strokina's "The Ninth Life of Nelson the Cat," and E. Basova's "Our Land Breathes." ________________________________
