FAQ - How will the future mine deal with climate change?
We will use the best available technology to manage climate-related risks. Design features include a dry stack facility, not a dam. Dry stack offers greater stability and progressive rehabilitation during operations. Mining and some processing will take place underground, minimising transport and emissions. Underground ore-sorting will improve efficiency by reducing the quantity of rock transported to the surface. The main method of transporting ore and rock to surface is conveyor belt, reducing diesel consumption. Smaller underground vehicles will be electric-powered. For the larger machines, developing technology will be incorporated as it is proven. Commitment to carbon-neutral operation of the mine (including during construction and closure).
