Test Driving the Templar Tank | vSE HM Pug
Without core raids to occupy me, I decided to finish up my templar tank. Slow kindly decided to host a vSE HM pug group in the Transcending Apotheosis discord (discord.gg/pravHER) for me to bring it to its first ever trial run. We ended up one-shotting most of the bosses (save for a quick early wipe on boss 1) despite having 3 DDs - Raf, Frags and Anya, that had never set foot in the trial.

The Templar tank sadly does not see much love - boasting an impressive total of 2 vSE HM clears in the previous 3 patches:

However, I found it to be a pretty powerful tanking spec, with perhaps the best self-sustain and off-healing power in the game amongst the 7 classes. Its kit is well-suited against the incoming damage profile of Sanity's Edge. We did not even run the typical 5 supports/extra healer on Ansuul, and the group fared quite well even when one of the 2 main healers died, though I predictably played quite badly.
Of note, Purifying Light can be cast on multiple targets to roll multiple instances of the HOT at once (thanks @ickypiggy9953 for this tidbit). The instant you recast PL on a new target, the DOT on the old target gets removed and the healing portion procs. The healing also procs when a target dies under the effect of PL. Thus, recasting PL on multiple targets is a fair way to make use of spare GCDs to increase group healing.

My setups were far from perfect - just theorycrafted and put together in the 15 minutes it took to group. However, I think it forms a fair baseline of how I would play these fights.
