Social inequality is a social problem present in practically all countries of the world.
It stems mainly from the poor distribution of income and the lack of investment in social areas, such as education and health.
Thus, the majority of the population is at the mercy of a minority that holds the resources, which generates inequalities. A few possessing a LOT, and many possessing little.
And London is a major global city (alongside New York, Tokyo, and Paris) and is one of the largest, most important, and influential financial centers in the world. Central London is home to the headquarters of more than half of the UK's top 100 companies and over 100 of Europe's 500 largest. London has a strong influence on politics, finance, education, entertainment, media, fashion, arts, and culture in general, which contributes to its global standing.
Even in a rich and developed country like England, you find poverty and social inequality.
If a country cannot meet the basic needs of a large part of its citizens, it will not prosper equitably.
And the United Kingdom has 14 million people living in poverty.
Philip Alston, a UN expert on poverty and human rights, said that in the UK “there are 14 million people living in poverty, record levels of hunger and homelessness, falling life expectancy for some groups, fewer and fewer community services, and a large reduction in policing.”
However, a London slum is not comparable to a favela in Brazil. Brazil bleeds in the open veins of Latin America. On the other hand, the British swim in the fruits of colonization, enslavement, and exploitation. Even the gold that Portugal stole from Brazil was sold to the English Crown so that they could carry out the Industrial Revolution.
It's no coincidence that in a London slum there are Teslas, BMWs, Porsches, and Mercedes, while in Brazil not even the upper middle class can afford these cars.
A person living in a London "favela" could never endure a day in a Brazilian favela.
It's historical.
But what can you do if the crazy person didn't study?
500 years of Brazil and nothing has changed here.
Another fall of 15 million.
In the richest metropolis, its many contradictions.
It's countless, unacceptable, relentless, inevitable.
Seeing the miserable side subsisting on crumbs, favors.
Dodging amidst nights of fear and horrors.
What's the deal, the trouble, the scene?
We pray, we run, and the same problems always remain.
Enjoy the Journey!
