In this video, Ryan and Jeff from MACkiteboarding chat about the new 2024 Reedin Supernatural and Hypernatural wings, sharing their thoughts and comparing the two.
The Supernatural Wing
Ryan starts by talking about the Supernatural, which has quickly become one of his favorite wings for 2024. He loves how easy it is to handle—it's super balanced and feels smaller than it actually is, but still packs plenty of power. The big thing that stands out for both Ryan and Jeff is how well-balanced this wing is, even in light wind. It’s so balanced that you can hold it up with barely any wind, which is pretty rare for wings.
Jeff agrees, saying the Supernatural is a great all-around wing. He’s impressed with how direct it feels when getting up on foil, and once you’re up, it stays easy to control, even if the wind picks up. The wing’s wide wind range means it handles everything from light breezes to stronger winds without any issues. Ryan’s been riding this wing all summer, especially in lighter wind conditions, and it’s become his go-to because it performs so well in those scenarios.
The Hypernatural Wing
Next, they talk about the Hypernatural wing. The Aluula material is the big difference, which makes it stiffer and lighter. It also has a smaller leading edge. Ryan mentions that while both wings are awesome, the improvements with the Hypernatural are more subtle. Thanks to that lighter, stiffer frame, it’s a bit easier to handle in light wind and on swells.
Jeff and Ryan both notice that the Hypernatural has a slight edge in wind range, offering a bit more power in lighter winds and better upwind performance when the wind is stronger. But, they also found that the Hypernatural can be a bit twitchy when you’re really powered up, probably because it’s stiffer. Jeff thinks that extra stiffness could make it great for jumping and tricks, where that rigidity would come in handy.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Jeff and Ryan agree that both the Supernatural and Hypernatural wings are fantastic choices, each with their own strengths. The Supernatural is stable and versatile, making it a great option for just about anyone, while the Hypernatural offers some nice upgrades if you’re looking for a stiffer, lighter wing with a bit more wind range.
Jeff wraps things up by saying that both wings are likely to be super popular, especially because they perform well across different conditions.
