Electromagnetic Radiation or EMR is the term used to describe all of the different types of energy released electromagnetic process. The major source of Electromagnetic energy is the Sun. In broad-spectrum both aerial and satellite systems record data of reflection or emitted of EMR energy from the Earth Surface. Electromagnetic wave pattern- Electromagnetic waves are energy transported through space in the form of periodic disturbances of electric and magnetic fields. It consists of an electrical field and magnetic field. Electrical filed varies in magnitude in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the radiation is traveling and a magnetic field oriented at right angles to the electrical field. All electromagnetic waves travel through space at the same speed, usually known as the speed of light. An electromagnetic wave is characterized by a frequency and a wavelength. These two quantities are related to the speed of light by the equation, speed of light = frequency x wavelength. All objects warmer than absolute zero emit electromagnetic radiation (EMR). Frequency refers to the number of cycles of a wave passing a fixed point per unit of time. The wavelength is the length of one wave cycle, which can be measured as the distance between successive wave crests. Wavelength is measured in meters (m) or micro meters. Frequency is normally measured in hertz. The shorter the wavelength, the higher the frequency and the longer the wavelength, the lower the frequency.
What is electromagnetic spectrum?
The electromagnetic spectrum ranges from the shorter to the longer wavelengths. The electromagnetic radiation occurs as a continuous of wavelengths and frequencies which ranges from the shorter to the longer wavelengths. The shorter wavelengths includes gamma and x-rays. The longer wavelengths include microwaves and radio waves.
