Fall out of Silicon valley Bank (SVB) failure on the financial system and overall USA market and is US FED policy responsible for this ? We have discussed this in todayโs video.
It is the 16th largest bank in USA and it got the best bank award in Jan 2023 by FORBES magazine.
SVB financial group became the largest bank to fail since 2008 financial crisis as California regulator closed the bank and its assets taken over by Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (FDIC). The bank has 209 bn USD assets. It had run on the bank as depositors tried to withdraw money and bank lost more than USD 1.8bn on treasury bonds because of US FED rate hikes and it failed to raise capital.
Now if US FED continues its interest rate hike policy then we would see many more financial institution going under water and if it stops interest rate hike then inflation would continue making the overall economic situation vulnerable and loss of dollar value. The fact is that US FED acted too slow in fighting inflation and high energy prices as it didnโt anticipate the long term nature of high energy prices and inflation.
