Crespi was created in the midst of the industrial revolution as a response to the tragedies produced by the first violent industrialization by enlightened entrepreneurs of the late nineteenth century. Crespi is a garden city on the outskirts of the agricultural and industrial worlds.
Crespi is currently a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a unique historical site that is more than a monument: Crespi is an inhabited Unesco site! Even now, all of the Villagggio's houses are occupied by a community that is largely made up of descendants of the ancient textile factory's original workers.
