7 Days to Die: Forge tutorial: How to craft and use a forge

Hey everyone!
It’s time, once again, for a 7 Days to Die tutorial, and this one is aimed towards the forge. How to make one and how to use it one! The 7 Days to Die Forge is a vital tool for progressing along the tech tree, and whilst you don’t NEED one, it will make surviving much easier!
The forge itself can be built at any stage in the game that you have the materials available to you, as there is no required level to craft the forge, you only need to find the parts. Most of which are found almost everywhere. The main roadblock for you getting a forge right away is going to be leather, which can be scavenged from cars with a wrench, as well as office chairs. You can skin animals that you kill to find animal hide, which with the Leatherworking skill, can be crafted into leather. Once you’ve got all the parts you need to craft both a Bellows and a forge, you’re all set to get on with smelting. Though, having said that, there are also some prefab houses, usually the two story ones, that come with a forge all built inside and ready to use, so if you’re feeling lazy, keep an eye out for these bad boys when making your home location selection! The houses that contain a forger usually contain a bookcase and a fridge too, so you might be able to knock back a beer whilst smelting your collected scraps!
Once you’ve got the forge, you can begin to unlock some of the better building materials that 7 Days to Die has to offer, which can in turn be crafted into some of the better weapons/armour/tools in the game. Forged Iron will allow you to make a multitude of items that will greatly increase your survival, and once you’ve unlocked the skill in your tech tree, Forged Steel will increase your damage output and mining speeds dramatically.
The forge requires a few odds and ends to function to its fullest potential, giving you access to all of the items you can create using it, and sometimes these things can be tricky to find. The Anvil is the first, and easiest, as you can craft it right in the forge. The Callipers and Dye Kit can be tricker to track down, and I promise, once you have a set, you’ll find the damned things everywhere! Hardware stores are a great place to look, so make sure you scavenge through all of the cities you can find, as there’s usually at least one in each. I myself play on a random gen map, so there is always a chance the shop you’re looking for won’t be in the city you’re closest to. On the 7th day horde, I have found that sometimes the Miner zombies will drop them, but it’s pretty rare. You might also find them in the airdrops too, but again, the hardware store is your best bet.
As I mentioned in the video, there are a LOT of things that you can make once you have a forge, and there are far too many to discuss here in this description, but I would strongly suggest you scroll up and down the list. See what you can make, see what materials you might need to consider stockpiling before you settle on your final base design, and see what you can make for yourself!
