The 2016 Reggae Boyz squad took fans on a roller coaster ride. On May 27, 2016 they enjoyed one of the biggest results in their history when they defeated the reigning Copa America champions Chile 2-1 in Chile, in a dress rehearsal for the upcoming Copa America Centenario tournament. This was no small feat as Chile went on to successfully defend their Copa America title, defeating Argentina in the final.
The same Reggae Boyz squad would also enjoy success in the CONCACAF Gold cup tournament, making it all the way to two consecutive Gold Cup finals in 2015 and 2017. It was disappointing therefore that they would fail to win a match at the Copa America Centenario tournament, and later fail to advance to the final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying.
