The field of informatics dynamically infuses information science and technology into the lives of people at work and play. It involves studying how people interact with computers to increase productivity and enhance communication. Students will learn to critically analyze approaches to processing information and develop skills to design, implement, and evaluate the next generation of information technology tools. It is a way to make a difference in the lives of others, so the focus of the program is on the social impact of computing – how people and technology connect. This program is a two year commitment (junior/senior year of high school).
At the completion of the program, dual enrollment students earn:
Ivy Tech Technical Certificate (TC) in Informatics
Total of 30 college credit hours
With the technical certificate in informatics, students can work as an entry-level systems administrator, network engineer or even technical help desk support.
