The Indiana College Core (formerly known as the STGEC) ensures that your 30 hours of general education credit allows you to start your college education as a sophomore at any Indiana four-year institution.
By fulfilling at least three credit hours in each of the following competencies, as well as an additional 12 elective credit hours from the same competencies, students will fulfill the core requirements that are equivalent to their first year of college. Students earn these credits through a combination of dual credit and dual enrollment courses during high school.
The competencies and learning outcomes are based on six areas:
Quantitative Reasoning
Speaking and Listening
Written Communication
Humanistic and Artistic
