Hey Guys, this is the new 2025 BMW M5 Touring - a 727 HP Audi RS6 Avant and Mercedes E63 Estate direct rival hyper wagon. Checkout its interior, exterior design, sound exhaust, and some amazing driving shots.
Something magical is happening: BMW is bringing a wagon variant of its ultra-performance M5 sports sedan to the U.S. Called the M5 Touring, it'll go on sale as a 2025 model. This certified unicorn sports a plug-in-hybrid powertrain with up to 717 horsepower, a setup it shares with the M5 sedan. Not only will this performance station wagon rip to 60 in an estimated 3.5 seconds (or less), but it’ll also provide around 25 miles of pure-electric driving per charge. The M5 Touring comes with all manner of performance-enhancing features, including rear-wheel steering and an adaptive suspension. BMW has confirmed that this model will reach our shores by early 2025, at which time it will challenge the Audi RS6 Avant for the performance station wagon crown.
What's New for 2025?
While the M5 has long been a staple of BMW's U.S. lineup, 2025 marks the first time the wagon variant has been sold here. Needless to say, we're pumped. The price of the 2025 BMW M5 Touring starts at $122,675.
The M5 Touring's six-figure price tag sure seems steep at first but considering it's only $2000 more than the sedan and roughly the same price as the Audi RS6 Avant, it's not impossible to justify. We'd consider adding the M Driver's Package as it increases top speed to 190 mph, but otherwise the M5 Touring comes equipped with plenty of high-end items. All models come with a Bowers & Wilkins stereo, a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, and a giant dashboard display running the latest iDrive 8.5 infotainment software. We would add the Executive package, as it comes with front and rear heated seats, ventilated front seats, power rear sunshades, a light-up front grille, and parking sensors.
Under the M5 Touring's hood lies the same plug-in hybrid powertrain you'll find in the M5 sedan. A twin-turbocharged V-8 engine and an electric motor combine for a whopping 727 horsepower. All models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-biased all-wheel drive, the latter of which can be turned off, resulting in an entirely rear-drive setup. Will the M5 Touring be a tire-smoking burnout queen? We can't wait to find out. Adaptive dampers, rear-wheel steering, and huge brakes are standard. When we drove a prototype of the M5 Touring, we marveled at its power and acceleration. When we get a chance to drive the production model, we'll update this story with more driving impressions and test results.
The estimated 60 mph time from BMW is 3.5 seconds for the M5 Touring, which is only 0.1 second slower than the company's estimate for the M5 Sedan.
The primary difference between the M5 and the M5 Touring is the latter's expansive rear cargo area. Behind the liftgate you'll find a 17.7-cubic-foot luggage area which can grow to a voluminous 57.6 cubic feet with the rear seatbacks folded flat. Otherwise, the M5 Touring's interior features the same mix of luxury and tech as its sedan counterpart.
