I was told that the fish had shut up and stopped biting in Ilev. So I decided to disprove these claims and went there. Yes, fish are less active in the dead of winter, but they can't stop eating. Fish are like people; they also want to eat, you just need to find active fish. This time I fed them dry groundbait from Flagman Bream Black and bloodworms. I made my own breast bloodworm box. I drilled and baited six holes right from the start, and the fish were under them within 40 minutes. I started catching them at a good pace, and you can see for yourself what happened.
And although winter roach fishing isn't all that difficult, and is quite accessible even for a novice angler, there are a number of aspects that deserve more detailed coverage. This video will discuss all of this, as well as winter roach fishing techniques. With the onset of cold weather, many things change in rivers and lakes, including the behavior of underwater inhabitants. Roach is no exception. And before we begin discussing fishing methods and gear, it's important to mention their winter lifestyle.
Whether or not roach bites in winter depends on their overall activity. This activity is directly related to the oxygen level, which in turn is a consequence of local conditions. Fishermen have long noted that roach bites vary widely throughout the freeze-up period in different bodies of water. Statistics reveal three distinct habitat types. The primary source of water for these bodies of water is precipitation. A small influx of fresh water may also occur in the form of streams or underwater springs. In the spring, during the flood season, such a body of water may also be connected to a river, but again, this is temporary.

In open water, oxygen readily enters the water from the atmosphere, but once an ice crust forms on the surface, this ceases. The concentration of this life-giving gas significantly decreases over the winter. The situation is further exacerbated by rotting vegetation, which is usually abundant in such bodies of water.

If roach are present here, they will only bite on the first and last ice, as long as the oxygen levels allow. However, at the height of the season, they will become torpid and stop feeding.

In addition to precipitation, these reservoirs are fed by full-flowing rivers or a whole network of streams. The oxygen situation here in winter is noticeably better than in the previous scenario, which is reflected in the activity of roach, which bites almost throughout the entire ice cover. Perhaps, at the peak of the dead of winter, the bite will be sluggish, or bad weather will force the fish to postpone feeding for a while.

I'll show you what winter roach fishing is, including roach fishing with a jig. Winter fishing is very exciting. A jig is a tungsten rod with a hook. Fishing for roach in winter with a jig is my favorite pastime, fishing, ice fishing. A good question: how to fish in the dead of winter, winter fishing 2021 or winter fishing 2021, I'll show you a video of roach fishing in winter. Roach fishing is all about winter fishing.
