A poem set to music about a mystical tree
CHORDS & LYRICS:
(Dm) Nobody knows how old it is
At least three (Bb) thousand (C) years they (Dm) say
It stands white against grey mountains
On (C) any sunny day
Its (Dm) branches bleached by sunlight
It's (Bb) leaves are now long (Dm) gone
It's sur(C)rounded by a stone circle
Built by (Bb) worshippers (C) of the (Dm) sun

It's (Dm) roots are gnarled with faces
It's (Bb) trunk near (C) turned to (Dm) stone
It's only the brave that come out here
By (C) moonlight on their own
But if you (Dm) do you'll sense its power
To con(Bb)nect you to the (Dm) past
(C) Legend says if it were felled
The (Bb) kingdom (C) would not (Dm) last

(Dm) I dreamt that tree had shook me
Hurled me (Bb) into the (C) long a(Dm)go
To witness strange lost mysteries
In the (C) body of a crow
(Dm) Rituals and dances
Cele(Bb)brations to a (Dm) drum
With a (C) priest chanting out songs that told
Of (Bb) things that (C) were to (Dm) come
