Life ponders on during the 12th century, slow and full of moral choices for our protagonist. Martin Herrick, a hunter turned soldier is becoming tired of what has now become his ordinary life. He wishes for the horizon to expand and expand it has to encompass the lands of Normandy and France and soon he will return home to unexpectedly find turmoil and chaos.
