Museums and libraries around the state and the world have responded to the Covid-19 pandemic with projects to document history in the making. This month’s meeting looks at the drive behind these new directions in museum practice and shares some of what the SDHC has collected from the Tri-Community Shutdown #3CShutdown project that began in April of this year.
Led by SDHC Director Eric Gollannek, the program will explore the SDHC’s experiences with the Tri-Community Shutdown: Documenting A Small Community’s Response to a Global Pandemic. We will also look at the ideas informing ‘rapid response collecting’ by museums in the 21st century focused around current events (2017 Women’s March, Pride/LGBTQ history, Black Lives Matter.)
