Hikitate geiko is a way of practicing that higher ranking members of the dojo should become familiar with.

The literal translation of hikitate is to “pull up” or “pull up to stand.” Figuratively, it has a lot of meanings, but one of the most pertinent to kendo is to encourage someone or raise their spirit.
