On your keyboard, press the windows key together with the R button. In the next screen you get, you'll only have to enter the following characters 'shutdown -s -t 60' and then press OK. That's it, your computer will shut down after the scheduled time.
To cancel the timer, press the windows key together with the R button once more, and type in these characters 'shutdown -a' and press ok
In case the windows key + R button doesn't work for you, then you should press or click the windows icon and search 'cmd' In the next screen you'll get, you also only have to type these characters 'shutdown -s -t 60' and then press enter. Now you should get a windows pop up telling you that the computer is scheduled to shut down after the scheduled time. You can close the window.
To cancel the timer, search for cmd once more in your start menu, and type in these characters 'shutdown -a' and press ok

This way is the fastest way to schedule a shutdown, by creating a shortcut.
Go to your desktop and right mouse click and choose create a new shortcut.
Notice the part where it says type the location of the item, in that bar you have to enter these characters 'shutdown -s -t 60' and click next. Now give the shortcut a name and click finnish.
Whenever you double click on the shortcut, the timer to shutdown the computer will start.
If you want to cancel the shutdown, then you have to create a second shortcut and use these characters 'shutdown -a' and click next, give the shortcut a name and click finnish, whenever you double click on the shortcut, the scheduled shutdown will be canceled.

This way we'll use the windows task scheduler, go to your start menu and search for 'schedule' and choose schedule tasks.
Then when you have it running, go to the right and choose 'create basic task'
Now you'll have to give the task a name, and a description if you want to add one, and click next.
This time you can choose how frequently you wish to use this task without recreating the task again and again, so choose the choice you wish and click on next. You'll also be asked for the time when you wish the shutdown to happen.
The next choice is to start a program, and click on next.
Now click on the browse button and go to the adress where the shutdown file is located and open the file in tasks scheduler.
On the next page, you'll have to add this '-s' in the 'add arguments' section. and then click on next and then you should have a last overview of the details of the task and confirm it by clicking on finnish.
The last step is important, you are going to want to know how to cancel a task in case you don't need it anymore.
In windows tasks scheduler, on the left, click on task scheduler library, then right next of it you'll get a list with all tasks.
Now go down and search for the task named shutdown, or however you called it, right click on it when you found it and click on delete or any desired choice you want.
