Edward E. "Jersey" Smith BAJ '49 (Deceased, 2010; WWII veteran, business executive, journalist and cartoonist) He worked as a reporter/cartoonist/columnist for the Reveille and then the Morning Advocate and Plainfield NJ Courier News before joining (ATT) Bell Systems where he served as a corporate relations executive before retiring in 1984. He continued his prolific, lifelong interest in cartooning with his work published in independent comic books such as "Eddie Extra," "Li'l Partner" and "Illustrated Classics" and other periodicals as well as many Bell System publications. He was a regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal's op-ed cartoon "Pepper...and Salt" and his cartoons appear in several books published by Dow Jones, including "Wall Street Journal Portfolio of Business Cartoons, "Women in Business Cartoons" and "Golf Cartoons" and also in a traveling exhibit to university business schools celebrating 50 years of "Pepper...and Salt.”
