Do you know the difference between 24 hour HAZWOPER and 40 hour HAZWOPER? The 40 hour HAZWOPER course is designed for individuals who are involved in removing contaminated articles and items from a HAZWOPER site. These people have intimate contact with contaminated items and are exposed to hazardous substances above the permitted OSHA levels. The 24 hour HAZWOPER course is reserved for professionals who have short work tasks at HAZWOPER sites. These people are not exposed to hazardous substances above OSHA permitted levels.
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Operations (HAZWOPER) applies to 3 main areas. They are as follows.
Hazardous waste cleanup sites (Superfund)
Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Treatment, Storage and Disposal (TSD) facilities Also addresses corrective actions
Emergency response
This 24 Hour HAZWOPER course will focus on the clean up component of the HAZWOPER regulations.
