Since the end of the 19th century, the definition and measurement of intelligence have evolved with the development of scientific psychology. To address educational and professional challenges, researchers have developed increasingly sophisticated theories and tools, without yet reaching a consensus. Today, the use of IQ is even a subject of debate among experts themselves. So, what is intelligence? Are there different forms of it? How can we measure them? Maria Pereira Da Costa, professor of differential psychology and specialist in gifted children, answers these questions. Beyond the theories, she examines society's view of intelligence and, more broadly, of the individual.

By Maria Pereira Da Costa:
Professor of Differential Psychology at the Henri Piéron Institute (University of Paris).

Member of the Laboratory of Applied Psychology and Ergonomics (La PEA).

Her main research and teaching topics are theories of intelligence and the heterogeneity of performance profiles on intelligence tests in gifted children.
