HP meme - Death Note
There is a severe lack of Death Note animation memes… and I just read the series and got really obsessed enough to make one, but for Matsuda the best and underrated boi :D took me only a couple of days, it’s my first work on a new ipad and apple pencil so I finally have pen pressure 😂 but alas my artstyle be hella inconsistent and I didn’t have time to make this as well animated
Details I wanna point out:
I hope the beginning is clear that they zoom into Light’s deceiving eyes it kind of got covered by the title lol. It’s kinda shipping MatsudaLight but mostly bc of the meme format which I really thought the lyrics fit those two, just how he kind of looked up to him but the only one who kinda “took him seriously” ended up being a mass murderer who used him ;-;
The ending with Matsuda falling asleep on the couch is his timeskip design from a couple years later which is why his hair is longer, in fact this whole meme was inspired by that fanfic Metempsychosis (https://archiveofourown.org/works/44606962...) where he keeps waking up from the same couch in a time loop..!
His eyes are shining at the beginning but get dull and tired at the end
Some of backgrounds are also referencing the fanfic, notably the black coffee, eggs and meat, alcohol, and the smiley face clock is at nearly 6:34am (not visible bc of the blur LOL). And of course the apples being bitten, the static TV from the original manga and the dark side images generally paralleling the brighter side (ex. A flower but now withered)..
