This is a famous Hakka dish where each piece of yam (mashed and mixed with tapioca flour) is shaped into a form that resembles the abacus seeds/beads, hence its name. The ingredients are rather simple but it requires a significant amount of time and effort (and love!) to shape the dough into the form of abacus seeds.
