We welcome Masato Shibata, who has had a diverse career, from serving in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force to being a company executive, entrepreneur, and magician. We asked him about his turbulent life and how he ended up joining DeNA.
After leaving the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, Shibata joined Hudson Corporation, where he worked in a variety of positions, including sales and engineering. He then went independent and attempted to start a game-related business, but unfortunately filed for bankruptcy. From a desperate situation, he endured harsh experiences, such as working as a balloon advertising man at AEON Mall, before finally making a living as a professional magician. It seems that Shibata's connection with DeNA's founder, Namba, was what led him to join DeNA.
Shibata praises DeNA's corporate culture, particularly the flat internal structure and ease of communication with the president. Since joining the company, Shibata has been tasked with developing new business partners and is responsible for forming alliances with various game-related companies.
Shibata's story of continuing to look forward despite experiencing countless setbacks in life is sure to inspire many people struggling with their careers. Shibata's way of life teaches us the importance of continuing to believe in our own strengths and potential. Please take a look.
