Full description:
Militant vegan attacks on butcher shops, restaurants and cheese shops. What’s behind the rise of extreme vegan activists? What about radical vegan activists? Have militant vegan activists gone too far? Are vegans wrong to push their views on non-vegans? Does doing so make you an extremist vegan, or is it more extreme to pay for the systematic “processing” of 2.7 trillion animals per year? If people are willing to put their defences down, it becomes obvious that veganism is the more moral choice. Afterall, animals don’t want to die, and we don’t need to kill them to be happy or healthy. Many people are on board with what veganism stands for. So, why then, is veganism still the minority? And how can we best convince non-vegans to leave animal exploitation out of their lives? To discuss this, I’m joined by four different vegan activists with different styles of activism. They include Stacy Adkins, AKA trashcarcass, a cube organiser for Anonymous for the Voiceless and also a regional manager for Anonymous for the Voiceless. I’m also joined by Chuko Cribb, who you may seen on “Vegan Goes Head-To-Head With Butcher | Would You Rather” on the Channel 4 YouTube channel. My final guest then is Paul Kerton, who might be more well known as Hench Herbivore. He focusses a lot on the dietary aspect of veganism but is certainly no stranger to ethical veganism. If you’re wondering what we’ll be discussing, here it is. What does ‘extreme’ veganism look like? When non-vegans tell us that being preachy doesn’t work, should we listen to them instead of thinking we know the best way to advocate? Many vegans say the best way is not to be ‘pushy’ but to lead by example. Thinking back to when you first thought about going vegan, was it due to someone else’s activism? Many use the Socratic method, some will use language designed to shame, and some will talk as though we’re both on the same side up against the meat industry. Are these words effective?: carnism, speciesism, human supremacist, non-human animals. Is it fair to compare animals to humans? Some activists and organisations, like Anonymous for the Voiceless, show slaughterhouse footage in the street. Is this acceptable? Is it acceptable to show slaughterhouse footage to children? Organisations like Meat the Victims will trespass onto farmers’ property, and some activists will ‘steal’ livestock. What are your thoughts on The Liberation Pledge? What’s the point of the Save movement? Have you ever wondered whether extreme vegans make us look bad? It’s no secret that they are increasing around the world as more and more people adhere to veganism. Radical vegan activists have come head to head with butchers and animal rights activists. Have vegan protests gone too far? I mean, we’ve all seen those extreme vegan protest and why are vegans so entitled, why are vegans so stuck up, and why are vegans jerks? Extreme vegans are just taking over the world, they're everywhere these days. But isn’t animal protection important? So why are vegans hated? And why are vegans so damn weird? These militant vegans, radical vegans or extreme vegans, whatever you want to call them, are making us all look bad by being morally consistent and showing compassion to animals.
