Instead of being basic and solely learning the piano part in this song, I decided to also incorporate to the melodies and harmonies which are originally heard in the strings and occasional vocal line.
One of the reasons I do these ‘raw’ acoustic piano videos is to share with you my love and appreciation for REAL playing without a metronome all the editing ; I want to show you a part of me that is purely in the moment. Much of my projects, collaborations and content does in fact consist of editing the sound to make it ‘perfect’ as that’s the standard, of course.As someone who’s been playing piano for over 20 years, I’m also challenging myself with the way I arrange music on piano - instead of playing just one basic layer from the original song, I incorporate many other layers and sculpt it in a way that makes it sound musically pleasant.
Many keyboard-based content creators out there are damn creative but they almost always edit their sound in home-style videos. Some viewers may be oblivious to this, thinking that’s how this person really played the piece. I’m here to say that if you’re a guitarist, vocalist, keyboardist, whatever, it is okkkkk to post something raw like this for others to see. So many of you have messaged me with your videos saying you're not sure if they're good enough cause they're not "perfect." Do itttt. This is you in the moment, don’t be too picky and “fix” the sound in post-editing. Most importantly, ENJOY what you do!
