Building the Van Floor, Insulation, & Solar panels
Ever since I was a wee lad I dreamed of living in a van down by the river. After finishing a year of biking across the USA and France, I decided that now is the time to bring that van dream to life. I picked up this 2016 Ford Transit 250 in March 2025 and will be converting it to be a cozy, comfortable, adventure studio.
In this episode I get the solar panels mounted, the start on the sub-floor. I use three sheets of XPS, and three sheets of birch plywood, with about half a ton of adhesive. I then spend a week putting in the insulation.
