Pond Time Lapse Disappearing Algae 3
Here is another in my attempts to show how the surface algae on/in my pond disappears during a rain storm. We start out with the pond surface clogged with algae, so thick that it barely responds to the winds that affect the tree limbs. Around 5 seconds in, we start to see the tree branches rising and falling slightly. At 20 seconds, the rain starts in earnest, and you can see the tree limbs drop. This is easier to see around 25 seconds in, as the rain becomes more intense. By 30 seconds, the algae is starting to break up, with dark water appearing. By nightfall, around 40 seconds, the algae is all but gone. For the remainder of the video (3 more days) you can see small bits of algae wandering around on the pond surface, along with bits of leaves: the surface mobility has returned. I'm not sure where the algae went. Perhaps it sunk, although I'm not sure how it could get any wetter than it was originally. Puzzling. By the end of the video, the water is, once again, deep black.
