Subwoofer in the Rear Deck of a Ford Mondeo 3
A video about installing (or replacing) a subwoofer in the rear shelf of a Ford Mondeo 3 sedan.
The subwoofer used is a 12-inch diameter. The new subwoofer is a Ural TT, wired to 4 ohms, while the old subwoofer is a Prology WOW.
The previous owner of the car had already installed a subwoofer in the rear shelf; it had become unusable, so it was decided to replace it.
A little about the rear shelf design: the original rear shelf was removed, a hole was made in the body for the subwoofer, and 20 mm plywood was installed. The rear shelf is soundproofed where it meets the car body, and the shelf is also covered with carpet.
The diameter of the hole for the Prology WOW was 28 cm. For the new Ural TT subwoofer, the hole at the top of the shelf needed to be widened to a cone of approximately 5 mm, matching the diameter of the hole. Since the shelf was covered with carpet, it was decided to place a ring made of 1 cm thick plywood under the subwoofer. The ring was painted black and will subsequently be covered with carpet, like the rear shelf.
