Dimensions of parts and procedure:
1. Tabletop – dimensions 203x87 cm: Metal for the frame: Corner 50x50x5 mm. – 203 cm x 2 pcs., 87 cm x 2 pcs.; Metal for the frame crossbars: Corner 50x50x5 mm. – 86.5 cm x 4 pcs.
2. Workbench stands (legs): Corner 50x50x5 mm. – 90 cm. x 4 pcs.
3. Between two workbench posts (along its length) weld a crossbar at a distance of 15 cm from the floor. Corner 50x50x5 mm. – 200 cm.
4. Between two workbench posts (along its width) weld strips at a distance of 15 cm from the floor. Corner 40x40x4 mm. – 84.5 cm. x 2 pcs.
5. Next, we begin to form the workbench drawers (pedestals). Prepare the parts: corner 40x40x4 mm. – 74 cm. x 4 pcs.
6. Connect the free ends of the previously welded blanks (see point No. 4). Prepare the parts: corner 40x40x4 mm. – 81 cm. x 2 pcs.
7. We connect the resulting frames of the workbench drawers with the outer posts (legs) of the workbench: corner 40x40x4 mm. - 51.5 cm. x 2 pcs. (I got a difference in place of 0.5 cm, so one part came out 51 cm).
8. Both frames of the drawers in the workbench are ready.
9. In the left drawer, I provided two shelves. One is already formed, for the other shelf we prepare the parts: corner 40x40x4 mm. - 84.5 cm. x 2 pcs.
10. Weld to the posts (legs) of the workbench platforms made of 6 mm thick metal. The size of the platform is 7 cm x 7 cm.
11. At this stage, I pre-cleaned the welds and painted the frame of the workbench (of course, you can do this after completing all the welding work). 12. I placed a 6 mm thick sheet on the resulting workbench frame. The overall dimensions of the sheet are 203 cm x 87 cm.
13. I degreased the resulting tabletop and covered it with a rust converter.
14. Next, we install the workbench in its place and secure it with 10 x 150 mm anchors. In total, I used 4 anchors: 2 anchors on the wall, 2 anchors on the floor.
15. On the right pedestal of the workbench, I decided to make a box (safe) for the tool so that it could be locked.
16. The first thing to make for the box is the door. We prepare the parts: a 4 mm sheet with overall dimensions of 70 cm x 54.5 cm, a 40x40x4 mm corner. - 63 cm x 2 pcs., 49 cm x 2 pcs. We prepare a reinforcing frame for the door from the corner, then weld it to the sheet. We check in advance how to position the frame on the sheet.
17. Weld the hinges to the door and to the workbench. On one part of the hinge, which is welded to the workbench, I additionally welded a piece of 4 mm sheet so that the hinges are on the same plane as the workbench frame.
18. Install the lock. I also made safety corners on the back of the door, in case the hinges are sawed off, the door will not be removed from the hinges. On the opposite side from the hinges, I welded a piece of 10 mm reinforcement 68 cm long to the workbench frame, as insurance against prying the edge of the door with a crowbar.
19. Next, we install the back wall of the drawer. 4 mm sheet - 58 cm x 73 cm.
20. We form the shelves of the drawer. In total, there will be 3 shelves in the drawer. There is already one shelf – the lower part of the drawer, there are two more to go. Let's prepare the parts: 40x40x4 mm corner – 82.5 cm x 4 pcs.
21. I put the lower sheet of the drawer in its place before welding the shelves. I was afraid that I would not install it later (although in vain). Sheet dimensions: 4 mm sheet – 58 cm x 82 cm.
22. Right wall of the drawer. 4 mm sheet – 70 cm x 85 cm.
23. Left wall of the drawer. 4 mm sheet – 74 cm x 83 cm. You can reinforce the welded sheet with pieces of corner (weld them to the tabletop, and then weld the sheet to them).
24. I fixed 15 mm thick plywood to the wall above the workbench in order to place the necessary tools on it later. The plywood is fixed at a distance of 4-5 mm from the workbench tabletop. The overall dimensions of the plywood are 152.5 cm x 152.5 cm - 1 pc., 65 cm x 152.5 cm - 1 pc. 25. From 15 mm plywood I made shelves for the workbench drawers: 58 cm x 84 cm - 2 pcs. (left drawer), 58 cm x 79 cm - 2 pcs. (right drawer).
Knowing the general need for basic materials, you can calculate the costs for yourself at the prices of your region:
