The Megadata of Lake Mendota: Sample Set Up for a 20-year Microbial Archive
This video is part of a series highlighting an approved JGI Community Science Program proposal from Trina McMahon's lab at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. The McMahon lab has studied Lake Mendota for over 20 years to understand how that freshwater ecosystem works. The JGI supported the project with sequencing, software development, and supercomputing to assemble 500 metagenomes from Lake Mendota. In this video, Trina McMahon and her former graduate student Robin Rohwer share a bit about the sample prep that went into that project.
