Hawkwind 2013-03-31 Seaton - start of gig / The Awakening / Master / YBBI start
Hawkfest 2013, and the second night of the Spring Tour. I love seeing start-of-gig recordings, it's like a still-blank slate upon which stories and patterns will soon be written....
Some of the camerawork is erratic because I don't watch bands through a viewfinder. I had the camera at waist-height, front of stage, and occasionally glanced at the viewfinder as I swigged beer and got ready to enjoy. If you don't like my camerawork, then downvote it or ask youtube for your money back, haha.
And, during You'd Better Believe It, the camera was put away in my pocket and I crumpled my lager can and had a nice headbang.
Technology gets in the damn way when enjoying a Hawkwind gig!
More info: this recording made at 20:30 on Sunday 31 March. Hawkwind's trading conditions allow clips on youtube and this is a somewhat long "clip" but I think it shows the band in a good light.
The line-up as seen on the vid is (L-R) Tim Blake (keytar), Mr Dibbs (elecrtic cello), Richard Chadwick (drums), Dave Brock (gtr) and Nial Hone (bass). And dancers! The sax player who did bits on the "Warrior on the Edge of Time" performance, mid-set, was the guy from the band HipiersoniK who played earlier. They're from Poland, I do believe. I don't remember seeing Dead Fred on violin but I gather he appeared later, as well....
