2003年4月,北京的“非典”疫情还没爆发的时候,黄文海就回湖南老家了。回去后他想以老家的麻将馆作为拍摄点进行创作,于是便有了纪录片《喧哗的尘土》。该片的主人公的宏伟是黄文海小时候的朋友。 [3] 。黄文海不想把这个片子拍成像电视栏目《新闻调查》类似的片子,因此他必须更加地沉入到拍摄对象的生活中。刚开始,黄文海天天在宏伟的麻将馆蹲点,甚至和他们一起打麻将。该片的拍摄周期长达3个月的时间,大概累积了110个小时的素材。该片原本的片名叫《群氓》
In April 2003, before the SARS epidemic broke out in Beijing, Huang Wenhai went back home to Hunan. When he returned, he wanted to use the mahjong parlor in his hometown as a filming spot to create the documentary "The Noisy Dust". The film's main character, Hong Wei, was Huang Wenhai's childhood friend. [3] . Huang Wenhai did not want to make this film similar to the television program News Investigation, so he had to immerse himself more into the life of his subject. At the beginning, Huang Wenhai squatted in Hongwei's mahjong parlor every day, and even played mahjong with them.
