Monochromatic Self Portrait (Mrs Brown • Art ®)
This lesson is for ages 5-11, and students will create a self-portrait using a monochromatic color scheme!
1- Using pencil, draw a “U” shape, a neck, ears and shoulders. Add the “bottom hairline”, “top hairline”, face and details.
2- Trace the outlines with black Sharpie.
3- Choose a color, and add colorful outlines and colorful shading to some areas of your artwork.
4- Fill in the rest of your self portrait with lighter tints of the same color.
5- Upload your artwork to Hemenway GoogleClass, ClassDojo, Flipgrid or Padlet. *Grades 3-5: Please include a written Artist’s Statement describing your artwork, your color choice, and any challenges you faced.
