In “The Proposal” by Anton Chekov, Lomov makes a visit with the intention of proposing to his neighbor, Natalya. But as the conversation grows, they keep fighting over various superficial topics. All the while her father, Stepon Stepanovitch, tries to keep peace between them. Will the two work past their differences to join their families in marriage?
