This production of Hamlet is dedicated to Brian Kapustik who passed away on December 27, 2022 following a brave battle with cancer. Although most of the cast and crew only knew him within our Hamlet rehearsals, what remained very clear was how much it meant to Brian to be able to create meaningful theatre. His love for (and joy from) literature, acting, and dramaturgy was palpable.
Brian has performed with Play On Words in our past productions of "No Exit" as Valet and "Casting Light" as Tom. Brian also taught English and oversaw the theatre department at Kiski Schools, where he lived as a mentor, for 21 years.
Kaitlin remembers saying frequently to Brian in rehearsals how moved she was that he could portray, even through his voice alone, someone both powerful and otherworldly…and so deeply human. So let us all keep his memory and love for literature, theatre, and people well, and listen to the words of Brian as his character: "Remember me." - and do just that.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that any gifts should be made directly to the Kiski Theater Department or the Kiski Gaming Club in memory of Brian Kapustik:
